This week, we discussed the tragedy of pushing away the Holy Spirit, feelings of abandonment, slowing down and resting in Jesus, joining the Holy Spirit in its work, and how Jesus makes something from nothing. With that in mind, reflect and meditate on the following questions:
1. Remember back to the time when you first experienced the tug of the Holy Spirit? How did you respond? Do you find yourself more sensitive to its tugging these days? List some positives and some negatives about submitting / not submitting to the Holy Spirit’s direction in your life.
2. Have you ever (or do you now) feel like the ruler from the story? Like God has laid aside your needs to meet the needs of others? How do you respond when that seems to happen? What might you learn from the ruler’s reaction to Jesus?
3. Are you guilty of getting wrapped up in the traffic jam of ministering to every need you can without getting any rest? List some benefits to resting and refreshing yourself with time alone with Jesus.
4. List some areas of your life where you see the Holy Spirit at work around you. Pray about it, then choose one of those works to get involved in.
5. Describe a time when Jesus took a nothing in your life and miraculously turned it into a something.
