Romans 1:20 (NLT)
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Speechless.
Have you ever been struck speechless?
I’m not referring to when someone else picks up the conversation and you sit quietly until they are finished so you can once again interject your two cents. Or when your team has the national championship yanked from their grasp on the final play. Or when the mythical 200 inch, 10 point buck makes an appearance. Or when the woman at the mall just janked on your impeccable style. (oh no she didn't!).
I’m saying speechless.
Perhaps it was when you gazed at the undulating stars amongst the blanket of darkness last night. Perhaps it was when you took that road trip to the coast and witnessed the sunset over the Gulf. Perhaps it's witnessing the crops rise from the Delta buckshot. Perhaps it was when your baby was born. Or a family member was healed. Or brought back from the dead.
Remember the awe which struck you at these moments, how if you even whispered something it would have diminished its glory or tainted its purity. We often recall these times, places, or people…but neglect the One behind it all.
How can we be rendered speechless at the sight of the Grand Canyon but forget the one who created it? How can we be mesmerized by the appearance of a rare comet and yet not find the One who dangles it in space awesome?
This devotion will end with where Crazy Love begins. With Francis Chan asking us to go outside. Look up and around. Whether its light or dark, consider GOD. The creativity. The diversity. The awesomeness. The ginormity (is that a word?) From the galaxy above to the ant below. And don’t say a word.
