Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.
Noah’s ark. The age-old story. You can find it in its entirety in the sixth, seventh, and eighth chapters of Genesis. There are many directions we could go with this story but I want to focus on one thing:
Noah’s faith when faced with the unknown.
Let’s get this straight: God told Noah he was going to destroy the world and everyone in it except for him and his family. God commanded Noah to build a large boat. I’m not talking about spending two hours building a raft. Noah spent decades building this boat. Then God commanded Noah to gather up pairs of every kind of animal and put them in the boat. Big or small. Friendly or mean. Flying or crawling. Every single species living on the earth. Then sit in the boat with those same (most likely very stinky) animals for most of a year waiting for the floodwaters to recede.
Then there’s us… Many of us won’t even get up out of our easy chair without a good explanation.
Noah was faithful to carry out God’s commands exactly as he was commanded to. He didn’t ask questions. He made no suggestions. He didn’t present God with an alternative point of view. Only two things happened:
God spoke. Noah listened.
May our faith grow as we face the unknown.
